Having seen the movie, I can say with some certainty that this is a
load of horseshit. What, pray tell, are the plot similarities between
the two films? (I'll give you a free hint: there are none, except
that both movies feature a robot.)
If anything, I'd say Stanton was "ripping off" George Lucas and R2D2
from "Star Wars." And I'd be more generous and call it an homage.
R2D2 didn't speak, Wall-e says a couple of words, but both communicate
primarily through bleeps, blips and squeals. Both are adorable, rusty
wrecks with personalities. Again, though, the movies couldn't be more
different. The robots don't even look alike. (Just how recently have
you seen "Short Circuit"?) Number Five was zapped by lightening and
developed a human personality. Wall-e is all alone on earth and
fascinated by human trash.
There are no new plots or story ideas. None. Shakespeare perfected
them all. We're not calling it "stealing" because it isn't "stealing"
ya moron. "Short Circuit" had nothing in common with "Wall-
e." ("Number five IS alive!")
